[Review + Swatches] Dolly Wink Eyeshadow Quad (01 Brown) ♥

Hi everyone!!

Throughout the years that I've used makeup, eye shadows have definitely not been an essential in my makeup routine. Eyeliner would be considered the most important because it defines the eyes and really makes your eyes stand out from a crowd. I really like smokey eye effects looks however, it never really worked out for me because whenever I wore it, it looked like I had a bruised eye. But after reading many reviews and raves about this product, I decided to give it a try and I bought this online for around $16AUD which is quite pricey for a small eye shadow quad!

Of course, the first thing I noticed was the shift from typical dolly wink packaging that were usually really pinky pastelly colours to this a more darker brown packaging. I actually like it because sometimes pink packaging may look too mainstream. Also, they have once again used the floral design all over the packaging like they with the Dolly Wink Liquid Liner which I did a review here! I didn't really like the floral print on the eyeliner packaging, but for some reason, it actually looks quite pretty on this product :)

On the back of the packaging it kind of just teaches you how you should use this eye shadow quad. So A is meant to be for an all over lid application and on the outer corners of your bottom eyelash whilst B is more suitable for highlighting the inner corners of your eyes to brighten them up. C is for liner the eyes or for the crease area and D can be used for lining the eyes as well!

The actual packaging of the eye shadow is really cute. Its packaging is actually different from the previous reviews that I read about and saw online. Instead of black packaging, its a dark brown case with lots of cute hearts imprinted all over the front and cute Dolly Wink label at the front in a cute girly font (however, I did have an issue with the writing because the label actually rubbed off after using it for a while which was quite disappointing :(

Here's a close up of the four colours.
1. Yellowy Gold Colour - Eyelids application, base colour
2. Creamy Beige - Base colour, highlighting inner corners of eyes
3. Matte Brown - Crease of the eyes
4. Black - Lining the eyes

Here are some swatches!

My favourite colour is actually the Matte brown colour because its neutral and great for everyday use because it doesn't make your eyes look overdone. Also, the Matte Brown and Black eye shadow is great to fill in the eyebrows with because it gives the eyebrows a really natural look.

The Verdict:

Packaging: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥  / 5I really like the dark brown packaging of the eye shadow and I also love the adorable heart designs imprinted on the front of the eye shadow quad. However, the only bad thing that I didn't like about the packaging was the fact that the Dolly Wink Label on the eye shadow rubs off after a few uses which is quite disappointing because it looks quite bland without the label. But other than that, I think the packaging is really pretty, as always~
Price: ♥ ♥ ♥ / 5The price for this product was $16AUD on an online store that I found which is much cheaper than other sites which sells it for $22AUD. This is quite expensive for a regular eye shadow quad, it doesn't do an amazing job to be worth $22.

Performance: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ / 5
Without a primer it can last for around 6 hours but after awhile I find that it does transfer onto my under eyes which isn't a pretty sight, so I do recommend using an eye shadow primer before hand to ensure that it doesn't slip and slide everywhere. I also did find the eye shadow to be powdery, but only a little bit, I've had worse before. The colours are very pretty and I do like the neutral shades. They are also easy to blend which is great for Smokey eyes.

Overall: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ / 5
I'm happy with this eye shadow, I think other than the price, everything about this product is great and completely satisfied with Dolly Wink~ I just wished that I could find this product else where other than online because it would definitely be a lot more convenient than having to wait weeks for package to arrive :( But I would definitely repurchase this product, but maybe in another shade that they have. (They have two other quads that you can purchase online).

Have any of you tried this eye shadow, and if so did you like it and if not would you want to buy it?
Thanks for reading my post!
