Haul | StyleKorean.com Korean Cosmetics and Skincare

Hey Everyone!!

How are you all? I've finally survived my first year of uni!!! It was a pretty stressful but fun year because along the way I've met so many lovely people in my course :) Congratulations to all the year 12's in NSW because they have finally all finished their HSC as of yesterday! I remember it was just last year when I felt the relief of finishing my final exams~

Now that I'm on holidays, hopefully I will have the time to post more regularly or at least post on time hehe because I know I've neglected my blog a lot this year due to the workload! Today's post is about the package that I received from Stylekorean awhile ago but I haven't had the chance to take pictures and write about it. I've actually seen many bloggers post about Stylekorean recently but in case you haven't seen any of those posts, Stylekorean is actually the upgraded version of Honest Skin (which I did a post about two years ago). They've now renamed their business and have changed their whole website look. They stock a lot of Korean beauty/skincare products as well as a variety of Korean foods including the chicken fire noodles that has been trending on YouTube lately (yum!). The prices on their website are really affordable and even though they don't offer free shipping, the shipping is quite affordable anyway (shipping worldwide as well!).

Packaged posted : Friday 2nd October 2015
Package arrived: Monday 12th October 2015
Total Days for package to arrive: Ten days

First thing I want to applaud StyleKorean for is how fast their shipping is. My package wasn't EMS but it arrived from Korea to Sydney in just ten days, less than two weeks! Secondly, when the package came, everything was really safely packed in lots of bubble wrap to ensure tha everything wasn't broken. Sometimes when I buy from other Korean websites, their packaging is pretty flimsy and often the individual product's boxes are either dented or broken. This didn't happen with any of the products that I received from StyleKorean and all the packaging still looks perfect! So I received quite a lot of products so keep reading to see what I got in the package :)

Berrisom Oops! My Lip Tint Pack
$17.99 USD

This was probably the product that I was most excited to receive in the package! I've never tried this brand before but they're known for this peel off lip tint that has super long lasting powers! It comes in six different shades and you can buy the shades separately for about $10 each but the best thing about StyleKorean is that they sell this whole entire set for only $17.99 USD (~$25 AUD). If you think about it, it's less than $5 for one lip tint so it's a super affordable lip tint set. Shades range from light pink to orange to a dark red but if you buy these separately I think there are another two shades in the collection (I think a purple and red?). I will definitely be doing a full review with swatches of some of these colours in a post coming up soon, so stay tuned for that! I've tried two colours so far and I'm pretty happy with the quality and the concept :)

Missha Super Aqua D-Tox Peeling Gel
$3.46 USD

This peeling gel is essentially a scrub/exfoliator. The one that i currently use is by Origins rice scrub and it's actually been lasting me for quite awhile because I don't exfoliate that often. I've heard a lot of good things about Missha Skin care products and this product sounds pretty good from the decriptions I've read. It contains fruit extracts, caffeine and green tea which are all really beneficial for your skin. I tried this product on my hand and it's kind of like the Cure Exfoliator where you can visibily see the little bits of exfoliated dead skin as you scrub! I'm super excited to try out this product :) The review for this will come a bit later because I haven't tested it out yet~

SU:M37 Miracle Rose Cleansing Stick
$8.22 USD

I've been wanting to try SU:M37 products for so long because I've heard they're naturally fermented products are really good for your skin, but i've never had the chance to try them. The product I received in the package is actually a cleanser in the form of a stick and apparently a really popular product which is always sold out! This is a really interesting product because I've never seen a cleanser like this before - I've used foam cleansers, cream cleansers, cleansers in the form of a bar but not in a stick form. It kind of reminds me of a glue stick because you can wind the product up and down depending on how much you want to use. When i opened it up, I could immediately smell the rose (even though they say it's free form fragrances) and you can visibly see the rose petals on the surface of the stick as well. It's made up of 90% natural ingredients, including coconut oil, camellia oil, glycerol, and actual, real-life rose petals, free from fragrances, artificial colors, and synthetic preservatives. Apparently it is meant to remove makeup and cleanses thoroughly, great for travelling. I'll be testing this product out soon to see if it's as good as everyone claims it to be and hopefully see the skin benefits that I can get out of it :)

SkinFood Argan Oil Silk Hair Essence
$6.87 USD

This next product is by Skinfood and it's a hair care product made from argan oil with 18 amino acids that help to provide moisture and nutrition for the hair. Other than finding a good hair shampoo and conditioner, it is also important to treat your hair after you wash it! Argan oil is known to be a really helpful hair treating product so I was excited to see this ingredient in the product. I've used this a couple of time so far and i think i've seen some improvements in my hair texture. It also smells like roses which makes my hair smell really good after I apply the product hehe~

Etude House Kissful Lip Care Lip Concealer
$1.24 USD

Another makeup product ! This one is by Etude House and it's their lip concealer. You're meant to use this before you apply your lipstick or any lip product for a longer lasting effect and for a more vibrant colour. You can also use this for concealing the lips so you can create the gradient lip look. I don't really see the point of purposely buying this product since any concealer that you use on your face can do the same job, but I'll try it anyway to see how it works and if it's better than using regular concealers. I think the best thing about this is probably it's size, so you can bring it on the go with you in your handbag for touch ups.

Its Skin Power 10 Formula CO Effector
$7.69 USD

This next product is an Its Skin serum which promises to hydrate dehydrated skin and contains Collagen to help the skin retain it's elasticity, preventing premature aging. I'm not at an age where I desparately need to worry about aging skin so I'm just going to see how well this product will hydrate my skin and maybe i'll get my mum to test it out to see if it helps with preventing wrinkles and fine lines. Its Skin actually has a huge range of these serums with different coloured packaging which you can check out on StyleKorean's website. I think each colour brings different benefits to the skin so if you're planning to buy a serum maybe check this range out and see which one caters to your needs!

Tony Moly Backstage Gel Liner in Black
$5.45 USD

I actually haven't used gel liners in so long because I've just been too lazy to grab out an angled eyeliner brush, slowly dip it into the pot and then apply it to my eyes. Liquid pen liners are definintely my favourite because they're quick and easy to use. However, I know this Tony Moly gel liner is a popular choice for many and it's convenient how it comes with a small brush at the top of the product. It's not the best eyeliner brush but it looks pretty decent. On the website it claims to have 24 hour lasting power and provides an intense colour but they recommend people with oily eyelids to stay away from this product and try their liquid liner range instead. Now, I have pretty oily eyelids so I'm not sure if this will smudge on me or not. But I'll definitely tell you guys when i do try :)

Holika Holika Pig Nose Clear Blackheads 3 Step Kit
$1.28 USD
Last product in this haul is a skincare product from Holika Holika! I've given up on using blackhead pore strips because I feel like they don't really work and they damage the surface of the skin when you rip it off (it's really satisfying {but disgusting} to see all the dirty stuff get pulled out of your nose though heheh). This product however, sparked my interest because it's a three step kit. The first step is to open the pores, the second step gets rid of the blackheads whilst the third step helps to close up the pores again. I'm super excited to try this product and hopefully it will work to get rid of my gross blackheads >_<~

So that concludes my cosmetics/skincare haul for today! I hope you all enjoyed reading about the products that I received and the reviews will definitely be up in the next few weeks!! I'm try to work as quick as I can to try out all the products so I can tell you guys about my full thoughts about them. Meanwhile, don't forget to follow me on GFC and my other social media platforms (Instagram: @Beautifyinglifee) (Twitter: @Beautifylifee). It would mean a lot to me <3  Until next time, take care everyone :)

Outfit | Trending the Denim Skirt ♥

Hi Everyone!!

Denim skirts have been the trend throughout this entire year in Sydney. I've seen people wearing denim skirts at uni all the time and I've always been in love with the look. I've been eyeing the denim skirts from Dotti since the beginning of the year but i felt like it wasn't worth $60 and so it was only until recently that I finally got my hands on this beauty for only $29.95 at DFO Sydney!! They had two shades of denim - light and dark. Originally I wanted the darker one but because i was at an outlet, they only had the light one left in my size but i went for it anyway! Keep reading this post if you'd like to see how I style the denim skirt :)

Grey top from Valleygirl
Light Denim Skirt from Dotti
White canvas shoes from Converse
Layered necklace from Glue
Saffiano Satchel in Black by Michael Kors
Bracelet from Pandora
Sunglasses from Portmans

Now to be honest, this denim skirt is actually not the most comfy skirt you'll find because it's pretty stiff and when you sit down you need to be careful because it will ride up a bit so bec careful not to flash the world :P.

I think this denim skirt looks really good paired with this grey top though and the stripy cardigan is perfect for Sydney weather lately which never makes up it's mind whether it wants to be freezing or boiling hot! My sydney readers will feel <3 Layered necklaces are also really trendy these days and I bought my one from Glue on sale for only $11!! It's like a staple in my jewellery collection now and I love how it just makes all my plain tops look ten times better :) Lastly I wore this Michael Kors side bag that I recently purchased which is a perfect medium size that can actually fit a lot of things inside! It's made of really sturdy material and it's definitely worth the price!

I'm keeping this post nice and short this week because I need to hurry up and finish my 2000 word essay thats due soon (heheh sorry ♥ ) !! Super excited because there's only one more week until I've completed my first year of uni :))) Can't wait for my four month holiday break where you'll definitely see more posts coming~ Hope you guys have a fantastic week and don't forget to leave me a comment down below and follow me on GFC and social media platforms (Instagram: @Beautifyinglifee) (Twitter: @Beautifylifee

Review + GIVEAWAY | Simuolive Skincare ♥

Hey everyone!

Skincare is no doubt an essential in our everyday beauty routine. To be honest, I've been pretty lazy all my life with my skin care and it usually consists of a cleanser, toner and moisturiser. When you've got a 9 am class and you have to leave the house by 7am to make it to class on time, ain't no body got time for layering skincare products. Similarly, with hair care, I've always just used whatever shampoo and conditioner at home no matter what brand since I feel like they're all the same anyway.

However, I've recently been trying a variety of skincare and haircare products from a brand called SimuOlive I've been really liking the results of these products. SimuOlive originated in Auckland, New Zealand offering extensive skincare and hair care products on their online store. Their products all contain olive oil and it is no secret that olive oil has properties that can bring wonders to the skin and hair.

The benefits of Olive Leaf Extract includes:
+ Providing moisture and firmess to the skin
+ Protecting skin against harmful effects of sunlight
+ Carries anti-fungal, anti-bacterial properties
+ Contains lots of natural antioxidants and vitamins
...Just to name a few!!

The SimuOlive online store offers two different ranges of products which both contain Olive leaf extract.

1. The Olive Range - for everyone including baby products
2. The Tebe Range - for men

The prices of their products are affordable for natural organic products. Their skincare and haircare products are gentle so perfect for people with sensitive skin like myself! I was pretty overwhelmed by how many different products they sell and was pretty surprised that they even cater for babies with their baby bubble bath products and even baby gift baskets!!
However, I ended up choosing four products - Shampoo, Conditioner, Rosehip Oil and Lip balm.

SimuOlive Hair Nourishing Shampoo and Hair Hydrating Conditioner

My hair is pretty damaged from dyeing and straightening it all the time! So when I saw that they had haircare with Olive Oil in it, I was excited to try!

The Olive Hair Nourishing Shampoo is a moisturising and hydrating shampoo for natural and salon treated hair. A gentle pH balanced, nutrient-rich blend containing extra virgin olive oil that will help to cleanse your hair and scalp of excessive oils and pollutants Restores moisture for softness and proteins for conditioning. It retails at $19.95 for 250mL of product. It comes in a pearl coloured bottle with a click lid. The consistency of the shampoo is kind of like a gel and foams easily with some water. This shampoo does everything that you would expect a shampoo to do - cleanse and gets rid of my oil hairy without leaving my hair feeling dry.

The Olive Hair Hydrating Conditioner is a deep conditioning treatment to moisturise and hydrate natural and salon treated hair. pH balanced, nutrient-rich blend of natural plant extracts and extra virgin olive oil will restore softness, manageability and a healthy shine
  • Containing Aloe Vera, known for its healing anti-irritant properties. This retails at $19.95 as well but it only comes with 150mL of product which is quite little product for the price you pay. The product is a lot thicker than the shampoo and is more like a cream than a gel. One thing I LOVE about this product is that it smells SOOOO GOOOD!!!! After I washed my hair with this for the first time, I got complimented for the way my hair smelled!! I don't know if it's just me but there's just something that's really satisfying about having nice smelling hair... is it just me?? :P
The conditioner isn't that moisturising but it does a decent job and leaves my hair pretty smooth and detangled.

If I was to repurchase the products again, I would choose the conditioner over the shampoo because I think you can get a shampoo of similar quality for a cheaper price. But I think you're meant to use both products together along with their moisture renewal hair masque to get the best result.

SimuOlive Rosehip Oil

Ever since using the Banish Acne Vitamin C Serum, I've been curious about other types of facial oils. After readings Sheri's posts (from Behind The Frames) that is all about facial oils that have changed her skin dramatically, I really wanted to try one and eventually I came across this Olive leaf rosehip oil. This is my first time trying a rosehip oil and I've always been skeptical about putting oil on my skin since I'm aleady oily and acne prone. But I've heard that they bring lots of benefits to the skin including:

                             + Anti-flammatory properties from the Vitamin E
+ Repairs and regenerates skin tissues from the fatty acids
+ Brightens complexion from the Vitamin C
                                           +  Improves skin texture

This oil comes in a 20mL glass bottle with a dropper dispenser and the product is organic as well as super gentle on the skin. As I mentioned before, this was my first time using rosehip oil so when i first opened the bottle and took out the dispense I was so shocked that the oil was a orangey yellow colour. It looked kind of weird and gross to apply to the skin but after searching online I realised that it's meant to be like that. I apply this once a day after i wash my face at night, placing 3 drops of the oil onto my finger tips and slowly massaging it wherever I have acne scars and hyperpigmentation. I've been using this for about a month and I've been seeing great results! I can tell that my acne scars have faded significantly which means that I don't need to apply as much foundation and concealer to cover my spots anymore! However, I don't like to apply this in the morning when I know I'm going to wear foundation because I feel like it makes my foundation slide off easier and makes me look  a bit shiny. It also has a strong nutty smell and if you can't tolerate strong smells then you probably won't want to use this product. Other than that, I've REALLY been loving this rosehip oil this month and I would repurchase this product again no doubt!!!!

SimuOlive 100% Natural Lip Balm

The last product that I tried from the Olive Range is this lip balm. It was really dry in Sydney a few weeks ago and my lips were super chapped and stripped from moisture. As you've seen in my previous post, the Maybelline Electropop lip balm has been my favourite go to lip balm recently but because that one gives a tint to the lips I felt like it's a waste to wear it at home and so i've been trialling this product hoping that it would give me the same result but without the colour. This product costs $8.95 so a bit pricey for a lip product. It comes with 10mL of product and in a squeezy tube. I'm not a big fan of these squeezy tubes because i prefer them in a windup tube form where I can directly apply the product onto my lips.

It claims to have antioxidants, softening and nourishing properties, protects the lips and is moisturising. When I first squeezed the product out, the consistency is really oily and a bit runny with a strong artificial chocolate scent. When I applied it onto my lips, my lips felt really oily but it didn't feel moisturising at all. I think the lip balm just sat on top of my lips but the nutrients weren't fully absorbed causing my lips to go back to its original dry and chapped state when the lip balm rubbed off. So I have to say this was probably my least favourite product in the line and most likely wouldn't purchase it again.

So overall, I was quite happy with the SimuOlive products with my absolute favourite being the Rosehip oil!!! I think the Rosehip oil has brought amazing results to my skin and I've definitely gotten compliments from my friends about how great my skin has been looking recently, all thanks to this miracle scar healing product! The conditioner was also a favourite which carries an amazing scent making you smell amazing every time you finish washing your hair~ It also leaves hair feelings soft and detangled. The shampoo was an okay product, not something that I would be repurchasing over and over again. I think this bottle will last me for quite a while though. And lastly, the lip balm which I wasn't a very big fan of because i felt like it didn't moisturise my lips enough  but left me feeling oily and i couldn't stand the chocolately scent.

If you're interested in trying or seeing what products SimuOlive has to offer you can head on over to their website to check out their Olive range!! If you are a guy reading my blog you can also check out the Tebe range for their shaving creams and balms!

Review | Maybelline Baby Lips Electropop in Berry Bomb ♥

Hi Everyone!!

Hope everyone has been having a great week! It's sad to say that it's already the end of the week which means I have to go back to uni again on Monday T_T But luckily three more weeks and that'll be the end of my first year of uni (SUPER EXCITED!~)

It's been awhile since I've done a product review, mainly because I haven't really bought anything new since I've been trying to save up and constraining myself from walking into Mecca >_~ But this was a product that I've really been interested in trying ever since i saw one of my friends wearing it. Her name is Anna and she does blogging and youtubing too (feel to free to check out her Youtube channel Acaibeautyroom and on blogger) At first I was like, why in the world is this girl wearing purple lipstick... but as she put this product on her lips I was surprised that the colour was in fact not purple at all but turns into a really nice natural pink colour. When I saw this product on sale at Priceline, I knew I had to get my hands on it and try it out!

Brand: Maybelline
Name: Baby Lips Electropop
Price: $1.98 AUD (half price sale at Priceline)
Weight: 3.6 grams
Shade: Berry Bomb
Where to purchase: You can buy this almost everywhere in Sydney incl. Woolworth, Coles, Priceline, Big W, Target, Kmart, Discount Chemist (Priceline and Discount Chemist usually has the half price sales though!!)

I remember using the original Maybelline Baby Lips back when i was in high school and I used to love it because it smelt amazing, was moisturising and has sleek packaging. However, the actual balm of the original baby lips only had a small diameter so it took longer to moisturise the whole lip. With the Electropop versions, the diameter of the actual lip balm is like a lipstick so it doesn't take as much time and fits the size of my lips a lot better!! In this range, they have three colours but in Priceline and Discount Chemist I've only ever seen them sold in two shades - Berry Bomb and Oh! Orange (Berry Bomb being the most popular shade that I see being sold in stores). However at K-mart I did spot the pink version in Pink Chock which was pretty surprising and I would love to try it out one day.

I don't usually read the claims of products but this lip balm claims to have Sheer colour and shine, 8 hrs continous moisture and a clinical strength lip balm.

I have to say the best thing about this product is that it provides colour to the lips. I am probably the laziest person you'll ever meet when it comes to wearing lipstick. Ain't nobody got time to touch up lipstick during the day so this product COMES IN HANDY. It provides a lot of moisture to the lips which is great because my lips are always really dry and chappy. On top of that, if you apply a few coats of this lip balm and wait for a minute, colour will slowly develop and you'll end up with a really nice pink lip without any effort whatsoever. Now although Berry Bomb should be a purple shade, i reckon it comes out more like a pinkish red colour instead of purple (Refer to the swatches and demo below~)... which makes me wonder what colour Pink Chock would be .

Anyways, in regards to the claim, I don't think it really gives you moisturised lips for 8 hours, probably only 2 hours or so before you start feeling your lips become dry again. It's not to hard to touch up though because you use it like a lip balm so no mirrors required when you apply this on (super handy hey?)

All three versions of this lip balm comes in a black windable tube with a clear plastic lid that allows you to see what shade you're using. The picture above shows how much product is in a new tube of the lip balm. You get 3.8g of lip balm which is fairly decent for the price you pay. It may not look like a lot but unless you use it like crazy throughout the day, it should last you for a while. It's not too expensive to replace anyway if you go through a tube quickly. I like to stock up during sales as you can see i have a couple of these ready to go. My mum got so curious about this product she even went and bought one herself hehe~

It seriously an amazing product at such an affordable price. I personally think the original price for the product is super affordable but I just prefer to buy things when they're on sale (lol so asian i know). The only thing that I would complain about in this product is the smell. If you're not a fan of strong scents on your lip product, you may not like this lip balm. It has a really strong artificial berry/cherry scent but once you use it a few more times, you kind of get used to it.

As I mentioned earlier, the electropop line also offers an orange colour. My sister bought it during the sales but she didn't like the strong scent and so she gave it to me to try out. I feel like the colour isn't as vibrant as the purple version but it's still very moisturising and gives a nice beigy orange tint to the lips. Make sure for this shade that you don't have dry patches because for some reason it will accentute it - strange because it didn't happen with the purple version. With the purple version, any dry patches could be easily smoothed out and instantly looked moisturised? So I guess if you have dry lips go for the purple one but if you have smooth lips all the time, you can try the orange shade.

Swatches

Top 2 shades - Berry Bomb
Bottom 2 shades - Oh! Orange

Demo

Purple Version - Instantly moisturises and soothes dry chapped lips!! Amazing results

Orange Version - turns out more like a beige nude colour but still really pretty(sorry for the bad quality photo~)

Verdict ♥

Packaging:  ♥ ♥  ♥ / 5
The packaging isn't too bad because it's the same size as a regular lipstick but compared to the original baby lips, it's a bit bulkier. However, as I mentioned earlier, the bigger size comes with a bigger lip balm diamter which fits the size of my lips a lot better. I also do like the lid that they use for this verison because it's easier to take off and put on compared to the original baby lips which came with a super tiny lid that I would often drop onto the floor and it would bounce and dissapear (Has that happened to any of you before??) >_<

Price:  ♥ ♥
♥
♥ ♥ / 5
It's so affordable, especially when it's on sale! Less than $2 for the tube that lasts a few months!! I do recommend checking when there are sales for Maybelline which is the best time to stock up on these .

Performance:  ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥  / 5
I seriously love everything about this product (except for the smell). I love how it's moisturising, glides on easily, doesn't slip and slide on the lips and gives a colour payoff that lasts for a few hours.

Pros:
  • Easy to use
  • Affordable
  • Great for lazy people who don't like to wear lipstick
  • Good colour payoff
  • Locks in moisture --> Doesn't slip and slide off the lips
  • The lid is easy to use (less likely to lose the lid compared to original baby lips)

Cons:
  • Smell
  • Colour Range not available everywhere
  • Lack of colour range - I think in America they have more shades :(
  • Bulkier packaging compared to original Baby Lips
  • The orange version accentuates dry patches on the lips
So that's all for today's reviw. Hope you all enjoyed learning a little bit more about The Maybelline Baby Lips Electropop and my thoughts on it. If you've ever tried this lip balm before, feel free to leave your thoughts about this product because I'd love to know!!
