[Review] Comparing Dolly Wink Long and Volume Mascara ♥

Hi everyone!

If you already don't know, Dolly Wink is one of my favourite Japanese cosmetic brands in the market and right now I'm really loving their volume and long mascara because they're designed perfectly for short stubby Asian lashes :)

In this blog post, I'll be comparing the two Dolly wink mascaras and by the end of the post, will tell you which one i love the most :) Please read on...  ♥

DOLLY WINK VOLUME MASCARA

So, originally when i was online shopping on Sasa, I wanted to purchase the K-palette 24hrs Waterproof mascara, however i was dissapointed to see that they had all been sold out due to high demands, so i turned to Dolly Wink instead. They had two popular mascaras, the Volume and Long, and were both the same price. I only wanted to try one first and the word volume really caught my attention so this was the first one i bought.

Packaging:

As always, Dolly Wink never fails to impress girls with their cute, pretty and girly packaging. The purple tube and aqua lid with silver polka dots really compliment the mascara and makes it really eye catching. The lacy label and ribbon is a really simple design yet makes the whole product look really elegant and just amazing! In other words, I love it!
Also inside there's a little pamphlet that teaches you how to apply the mascara and the results that it should give you. So cute!

Application:

The bristles of the mascara is quite thin and can pick up a lot of product on the brush without clumping up when applied to the eyelashes. The consistency of the mascara is quite dry and requires a few layers before it gives you the full volume (well for my tiny lashes anyway^^), if you're blessed with extremely long curly lashes, one or two coats will do the trick for you :)
Even though it requires a few coats, it doesn't cause any clumping which is a really good thing! Having the consistency towards the dry side also means that it won't smudge and budge as easily during the day so you don't even need to worry about having panda eyes by the end of the night. My eyes are really watery and this mascara can hold my curls for a whole night with only a little bit of smudging at the corner of my eyes. But that's alright since all the pro's outweigh all the cons :D

Pros:

  • Lengthens and Volumises as promised
  • Waterproof
  • Smudge proof
  • Doesn't flake
  • Doesn't clump
  • Holds curls all day and night
  • Packaging is extremely pretty and cute
Cons:
  • Consistency is too dry

DOLLY WINK LONG MASCARA

After the amazing results that i saw when using the Dolly Wink Volume Mascara, I asked my sister to buy me the Long version when she went overseas.  Here are my thoughts about it:

Packaging:

The overall packaging of the Dolly Wink Long Mascara is very similar to the Volume mascara, it comes in a similar tube with the polka dot design and the cute little laced brand label. However, this one comes in a baby pink with a purple cap with silver polka dots. This design is still really cute however for some reason i seem to like colours on the volume mascara more :)

Application:

The bristles on the brush are quite similar to the Volume mascara, however the consistency of this mascara is a lot more wet and only requires a two to three coats for the full look. Applying too many coats of this mascara will result in clumpiness and trust me, it doesn't look pretty! It does make your lashes look extremely long due to the fibres in the long mascara so that's a good thing. What i don't like about this is that because its so wet, you have to wait a long time before it completely dries and during the time that its wet, if you look up or close your eyes too tightly it will smudge onto your eyelids or underneath your eyes, ruining any eyeshadow that you have on, so that's something you'll want to think about when purchasing this mascara...

Rating   ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ / 5.

Pros:
  • Easy foolproof application
  • Design is cute
  • Does its job in lengthening lashes

Cons

  • Consistency is too wet, weighing lashes down, not being able to hold curls all day
  • Smudges and Smears
  • Flakes after around 8 hours

The Verdict: Comparing both mascaras

I feel like the purple design of the volume mascara makes it look more neat and elegant, and the aqua goes really well together compared to the pink and purple.

So the Dolly Wink Mascara wins this one ~

The Dolly Wink Long Mascara is too wet and causes the product to smudge and smear all over my eyes which i really don't enjoy. The Volume one is dry but does the job of both volumising my lashes and giving it a little bit of length.

The Dolly Wink Volume Mascara wins this round as well! ~

So as you can tell... my favourite one is Dolly Wink Volume Mascara!  ♥  It does everything i ask for and makes my lashes look amazingg!! In love with this one and i've already stocked up on lots of these yay! :)

Hope you all liked this comparison post!
I would highly recommend everyone to purchase this~ I'm pretty sure you can get this on Sasa.com for around $16 ~ $17 :)
Thanks everyone for reading!

  4. Can apply both at the same time? Combining both mascaras, the result should be voluminous and longer lashes ;)
